What CDC actually says about bees, wasps, and a sting
CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health page on insects and scorpions is dated March 4, 2026. Stinging or biting insects include bees, wasps, hornets, and fire ants. A sting can cause mild discomfort or pain. Workers allergic to the venom could die from anaphylactic shock. Anaphylactic shock is a severe allergic reaction and requires immediate emergency care. Bees, wasps, and hornets are most abundant in the warmer months. Nests and hives may be found in trees, under roof eaves, or on equipment such as ladders.
