Matching service only. Under Florida Chapter 482 we are not a certified operator. We do not spray, bait, tent, or inspect.
A Horizon West screen cage is a roof, a trough, and a room that still sits outdoors. Paper wasps use the underside of the beam. Mosquitoes use the film of water in the track after rain. Outdoor cockroaches walk the wet slab. None of those is a DIY knockdown from a stepladder at dusk. Orlando West Pest Care is a matching service. We match you with a licensed local pest control operator. We do not spray, bait, inspect, or tent.
This is for residential lanais and screened cages in Horizon West, Hamlin, Waterleigh, Winter Garden, Windermere, Ocoee, Oakland, Stoneybrook West, Clermont, and Minneola. If the nest or the bites are on a private house, use general household pest or get a quote. Name Horizon West or the village. We will not quote the amenity kitchen or the Town Center water feature. The licensee who already drives Horizon West is the one who looks. We still only match. The wasp-specific companion is paper wasps on a Horizon West lanai.
What CDC actually says nests under an eave
CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health page on insects and scorpions is dated March 4, 2026. Stinging insects include bees, wasps, hornets, and fire ants. A sting can cause mild discomfort or pain. People allergic to the venom can die from anaphylactic shock, which requires immediate emergency care. That is medical care, not pest control. See CDC/NIOSH, Insects and Scorpions at Work.
Bees, wasps, and hornets are most abundant in the warmer months. Nests and hives may be found in trees, under roof eaves, or on equipment such as ladders. A Horizon West screen cage is a roof eave with furniture under it. CDC says social wasps thrive in places where humans discard food. A lanai table after a Saturday cookout is on that list whether the HOA lawn looks perfect or not.
CDC’s first-aid list is for a sting, not for removing the nest: stay with the person, wash with soap and water, scrape a stinger — never squeeze or use tweezers — apply ice, do not scratch. If breathing changes, that is emergency care. Remain calm and still if a single stinging insect is flying around; swatting may cause it to sting. If attacked by several at once, run indoors. Do not jump into the pool; some insects hover above water. Those are avoidance steps. They are not a licensed removal of a comb on the beam.
The same CDC page names fire ants: they bite and sting, they are aggressive, and they inject venom that causes a burning sensation. Do not stand on or near mounds.
Water in the track is a mosquito file, not a wasp file
CDC’s life-cycle page for Aedes mosquitoes is the irrigation-and-rain sentence. Adult females lay eggs on the inner walls of containers that hold water, above the waterline. Eggs stick like glue. Larvae hatch when water — from rain or a sprinkler — covers the eggs. Mosquitoes only need a small amount of water. A mosquito egg takes 7–10 days to develop into an adult. See CDC, Life Cycle of Aedes Mosquitoes.
A screen-cage track, a saucer under a lanai plant, and a cover that holds a film after the irrigation cycle are on that small-water list. They are not the same product as a paper-wasp nest. Emptying the track is source reduction. Knocking a comb off a beam is not. If mosquitoes are the actual complaint, say dusk bites versus a nest on the header so the match is the right category.
September on a Horizon West cage is still warm and still wet
The Florida Climate Center publishes NOAA / NCEI 1991–2020 normals for Orlando International Airport: annual mean 73.0°F, September mean 81.0°F, 51.45 inches of rain a year, and 6.37 inches in September. June through August are wetter still. See the Florida Climate Center Orlando 1991–2020 normals.
CDC’s “warmer months” line does not end on Labor Day in west Orlando. Rain does not wash a paper nest off a beam. It does keep people on the screened porch, which is where the nest already is, and it does refill the track. This page does not invent a named storm. It uses the climate series, the CDC eave sentence, and the CDC container sentence.
Why the operator has to be licensed in Florida
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services licenses structural pest control. For pest control provided to homes, each business location must be licensed by FDACS, carry required insurance, and employ full-time a Florida-certified operator in the categories in which the business operates, including general household pest and rodent control. See FDACS Pest Control Licensing and Certification.
A nest on a Horizon West lanai is a general-household-pest file, not a tent and not a lawn program. Florida Statutes section 482.191 makes it unlawful to solicit, practice, perform, or advertise in pest control except as Chapter 482 provides. We are not that licensee. We match you with a licensed local pest control operator who already works Horizon West. We do not knock down the nest, fog the cage, or inspect the beam. See Fla. Stat. 482.191.
On the quote form, say lanai nest versus standing water in the track versus a mound at the pad, Horizon West or the village (Hamlin, Waterleigh), and whether anyone in the house has a known sting allergy — that last note is for the operator’s caution, not a diagnosis from this website. Use general household pest, Horizon West, paper wasps on a Horizon West lanai, or get a quote.
What you can do before a licensed look
CDC’s homeowner half is avoidance and first aid: do not swat a single wasp, go indoors if several arrive, keep food off the lanai table, and treat a sting as CDC lists. Dump the film in the track once a week the way CDC lists other containers. Repair obvious screen holes. Do not soak a nest with a garden hose. Do not climb a ladder at dusk to scrape the comb. If a sting needs a clinician, that is a healthcare visit. If the nest or the yard needs a licensee, that is the match.

FAQs
What actually nests on a Horizon West screen cage?
CDC says bees, wasps, and hornets nest in trees, under roof eaves, or on equipment such as ladders. A lanai beam and a cage corner are eaves. Mosquitoes use small standing water, including a film in the track. This page does not identify a nest from a photo.
Is a wasp sting a pest-control emergency or a medical one?
CDC says anaphylactic shock requires immediate emergency care. Wash, ice, and watch for an allergic reaction. A nest on the beam is a licensed pest-control file. We match the operator. We do not treat stings.
Can I knock the nest down and dump the track myself?
Dumping a saucer or a track is CDC source reduction for mosquitoes. CDC’s advice for a flying wasp is not to swat. Florida pest control on a home is licensed work under Chapter 482. We will not talk you through a ladder job.
Do paper wasps disappear after Labor Day here?
CDC says they are most abundant in the warmer months. Orlando International’s September mean is still 81.0°F, with 6.37 inches of rain in a 51.45-inch year. Warm is not over because the calendar flipped. See paper wasps on a Horizon West lanai.
Do you treat Horizon West screen cages?
No. We match you with a licensed local pest control operator. We do not spray, bait, inspect, or tent. Use get a quote and name Horizon West or the village.
